The foundation of Sutyo’s light modulation comes from the engineering of dyed liquid crystals.

When an electric signal is applied to the liquid crystal layer, the molecular alignment shifts within milliseconds, continuously adjusting the way light passes through.

Under precise control, the change is not simply “on” or “off,” but a naturally flowing process.

Hinge

The hinge on a Sutyo frame isn't just a connector. It's made from six separate metal components, put together at micrometer precision. The core material is 17-4PH stainless steel, which is what you'd find in aerospace hardware and medical instruments. It's chosen because it holds up over years of daily use without loosening or wearing down.

Hinge

The Sutyo hinge is not treated as a simple connector. Though small in appearance, it is composed of six metal components, assembled with micrometer-level precision. The core material is 17‑ 4PH precipitation‑hardened stainless steel, designed for highly reliable mechanical parts. It is a precise, movable mechanism, not a disposable assembly piece.

Ring

The retaining ring is one of the most tangible metal details in Sutyo, representing visible precision. Made from aerospace-grade 7-series aluminum, it is machined and finished to achieve smooth, continuous curves while maintaining uniform structural stress. The result is restrained yet refined.

Use

Sutyo isn't something you operate.

There are no buttons because we didn't want wearing these glasses to feel like using a device. You put them on, slide the temple when you want to adjust, and that's it. Everything else happens on its own.
